In the third quarter of 2024, the air travel app market in South Africa witnessed diverse performance trends across the top five Android applications. According to data from Sensor Tower, these apps showcased varied patterns in weekly downloads and active users.

FlySafair experienced fluctuating weekly downloads with a notable spike in mid-August, reaching approximately 8.4K. By the end of September, downloads stabilized around 4.8K. The app maintained a strong presence in terms of weekly active users, peaking at around 38.4K in mid-August before settling at 34.1K by the quarter's end.

Investec InTransit saw its weekly downloads peak dramatically at 13.1K in late September, following a period of lower activity. Despite the absence of data on active users, the surge in downloads indicates a growing interest in the app towards the end of the quarter.

Qatar Airways maintained a consistent download rate, peaking at 2.1K in early September. The app's weekly active users showed a gradual increase, reaching a high of approximately 7.9K in early September, before declining slightly to 7.1K by the end of the quarter.

Ethiopian Airlines faced a downward trend in downloads, starting the quarter at 1.7K and dropping to 773 by the end of September. Weekly active users also showed a decline, from 6.3K at the start of the quarter to 5.5K at its close.

Finally, Travelstart: Flights & Hotels saw an increase in weekly downloads mid-quarter, peaking at 1.9K in early September. Active users followed a similar upward trajectory, peaking at 5.8K in August, before ending the quarter at 5.1K.
